VCom comparisons and alternatives

Comparison guides

Honest guides comparing VCom with other store builders Indian sellers consider. VCom's own feature comparison with marketplaces and custom websites is at /compare.

Every guide states published prices with the date we checked them, links to the vendor's own page, and says when the other product is the better choice.

How we picked and compared

We shortlisted store builders that Indian small sellers commonly consider, read each vendor's own pricing and plan pages on 27 October 2026, and compared the same criteria for each: billing currency, entry price, trial, domain, themes, WhatsApp ordering, fees and back-office tools.

Disclosure: VCom is our own product, built and run by D&D Technology. It is listed here alongside the alternatives, with its limits stated. There are no affiliate links on this page and no vendor paid to be included.

  • Only vendors with an official website we could read were included; facts come from those pages.
  • Prices are the vendor's published prices on the date checked. Where none is published we say "Not publicly listed".
  • We did not use review-site ratings, star scores or customer counts, because we cannot verify them.
  • Each option has a "best for" note, including when our own product is not the right choice.

The shortlist

Four store builders, starting with ours. Each has a different strength; the right one depends on budget, catalogue size and where your buyers come from.

VComOur product

Best for: small Indian sellers who want a fixed rupee price and WhatsApp ordering

VCom is an ecommerce store builder for Indian businesses, built by D&D Technology in Jaipur. You get a storefront with 1,000+ ready themes, your own domain on VCom DNS, products, orders and a WhatsApp order button, plus a business workspace for stock, quick bills and invoices, customers and leads, marketing and SEO. It has one store plan: the first month is free, then ₹499 a month, or ₹4,491 for 12 months.

Pricing: Monthly: ₹499/month after the free first month; Annual: ₹4,491 for 12 months (pay for 9)

Strengths
  • One simple plan: first month free, then ₹499/month or ₹4,491 for 12 months (pay for 9). No card or UPI asked at signup.
  • 1,000+ ready themes, your own domain on VCom DNS, and a WhatsApp order button included.
  • A connected business workspace: products and stock, quick bills, invoices and challans, customers and leads, marketing and SEO tools.
  • Built and supported from Jaipur, with WhatsApp help.
Limits
  • VCom is newer and smaller than global platforms, and it has no app marketplace of the same size.
  • Workspace login follows a review and activation step after signup; the preview store is created first.
  • Themes other than the default, and payment-provider features, appear only after configuration. Ask which payment gateway setup you need.

Shopify

Best for: sellers who want the largest app ecosystem and room to scale

Shopify is a global ecommerce platform used by sellers of every size. Its India pricing page lists four plans billed in rupees (Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus), a short trial, and a separate fee when you use a third-party payment provider instead of Shopify's own payments.

Pricing: Basic: ₹1,994/month, or ₹1,499/month billed yearly; Grow: ₹7,447/month, or ₹5,599/month billed yearly; Advanced: ₹30,164/month, or ₹22,680/month billed yearly; Plus: starts at ₹1,75,000/month (Trial: 3 days free, then ₹20/month for 3 months. Third-party payment provider fee 2% / 1% / 0.6% / 0.2% by plan.)

Strengths
  • A mature, widely used platform with a very large app and theme ecosystem.
  • Plans that scale from a small shop (Basic) up to enterprise (Plus).
  • Rupee pricing on the India page, with a cheaper rate when you pay yearly.
  • Many Indian agencies and freelancers already know how to build and support Shopify stores.
Check before buying
  • The third-party payment provider fee (2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced, per the pricing page) adds up if you use an Indian gateway that is not Shopify's own.
  • Paid apps for features such as WhatsApp ordering, reviews or GST invoices can raise the real monthly cost.
  • The entry price is higher than small sellers often budget for in their first year.

Which one should you choose?

Shopify is the better choice for a seller who wants the biggest app ecosystem, expects to scale fast or sell abroad, and has the budget for the platform fee plus apps. If you already run a busy Shopify store with apps you depend on, switching is usually not worth it just to save on the plan.

Wix is the better choice when the website itself, its design and its content pages matter more than the shop, and you want a visual editor with a lot of freedom. If you mainly need a rupee-priced catalogue with WhatsApp orders and a business back office, VCom is the simpler fit.

Dukaan suits sellers who want an India-focused store builder and are happy to confirm current plan prices directly with the vendor.

VCom is the better choice for a small Indian seller, shop or Instagram/WhatsApp seller who wants a branded store on a fixed rupee price, with WhatsApp ordering and the back office in one place. It is not the best choice if you depend on a specific global app, sell mainly abroad, or need enterprise scale today.

How to decide in one week

  • Write down the three jobs the software must do every day, and the one report you need every week.
  • Shortlist two products at most, and ask each vendor for a demo on your own sample data, not a generic tour.
  • Ask each vendor, in writing, for the full yearly cost: plan, users, add-ons, payment or transaction fees, setup and support.
  • Check how you can export your data if you leave, and in which format.
  • Run one real week of work in the trial or demo account before you commit to a yearly plan.

Switching tools without losing data

Moving a small store is mostly about products, images, customers and your domain. You can keep the old store live until the new one is ready, so you lose no sales.

  1. Export from the old store. Download products (with prices, SKUs and images), customers and recent orders as CSV files.
  2. Start the free month on VCom. Sign up with your store name and WhatsApp number; your preview store is created right away.
  3. Import and check products. Bring in the product list, then check prices, stock, variants and photos on a phone screen.
  4. Recreate key pages. About, contact, shipping, returns and privacy pages. Keep the same URLs where you can.
  5. Point your domain. Point your domain to VCom DNS after activation and ownership check, then test checkout and the WhatsApp button.
  6. Close the old plan. Cancel the old subscription only after a week of orders on VCom, and keep your export files.

What to check in any online store builder

Total yearly cost

Plan price, paid apps, payment gateway fees and any per-order fees, added up for 12 months.

Billing currency

A dollar-priced plan changes with the exchange rate. A rupee price is easier to budget.

Phone experience

Most Indian buyers shop on phones. Open the demo store on a mid-range phone on mobile data.

Own domain

Your own domain makes the store look permanent and keeps your links if you ever move.

WhatsApp and enquiries

Many buyers want to ask before they pay. Check how enquiries reach you and who follows up.

Exit plan

Confirm you can export products, customers and orders as CSV if you leave.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best online store builder for a small business in India?

It depends on your budget and what you sell. For a fixed rupee price with WhatsApp ordering, VCom (our product) is built for that. For the largest app ecosystem, Shopify is the established choice. For design-led brand sites, Wix is strong. Confirm current prices on each vendor's site.

Is VCom independent from this list?

No. VCom is our own product, made by D&D Technology. We say so at the top of the page and list its limits next to the alternatives.

How current are the prices?

All prices were checked on each vendor's official website on 2026-10-27. Vendors change prices, so confirm on their site before buying. Where a vendor does not publish a price, we write "Not publicly listed".

Is the VCom free month really free?

Yes. Your store and workspace are created when you sign up and you pay ₹0 for the first 30 days. VCom does not ask for a card or UPI at signup; before day 30 you get a payment link for the plan you picked.

Compare VCom on your own workflow. Ask for a walkthrough.
